All residents were able to safely leave the home as the blaze began inside the car and jumped to the home.

CALDWELL, Idaho — On Sept. 12, a vehicle caught on fire in Caldwell and burned a portion of a home.

The Caldwell Fire Department(CFD) said a 911 call came in around 5:45 a.m. for a fire at a Caldwell home on Strayhorn Drive.

The fire started inside the vehicle and quickly spread into the home. Caldwell Fire said the fire was “engulfing the garage and the upper living quarters of the residence.”

CFD said that, thankfully, everyone who was home was able to leave safely.

The fire department said the vehicle caught fire because of a recall that was never repaired.

Caldwell Fire reminds drivers that if your car has a recall, please take care of the issue. Car recalls help ensure all cars are safe to drive, which helps all drivers, passengers, pedestrians, and in this case, your home.
