AUSTIN – Organizations serving veterans in Texas are invited to apply for the Texas Veterans Commission’s (TVC) Fund for Veterans’ Assistance (FVA) grant program. The application period began Sept. 12 and closes at 5 p.m. on Nov. 12, 2024. An estimated $31 million in grant funding is available.
The grants, designed for nonprofits and local government agencies, support direct services to veterans. For the 2025-2026 funding period, several key changes have been made:
- The grant term has been extended from 12 months to 14 months.
- Funding limits have been increased, with a maximum of $600,000 depending on the grant program.
- Applicants can apply for and receive up to three grants. County governments can be awarded four, including one for a Veteran Treatment Court.
The grants cover services like emergency aid, transportation, legal help, family support, home modifications, and housing assistance. TVC offers funding in five categories: General Assistance, Housing for Texas Heroes, Veterans Mental Health, Veterans Treatment Courts, and Veteran County Service Offices.
