MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WBRC) – The Alabama Certificate of Need Board unanimously approved the city of Hoover’s application for approval on Wednesday, clearing the final regulatory hurdle to build the surgical center that is a key part of the Riverwalk Village project
A CON is an Alabama state requirement that allows health care providers and systems to expand medical services to citizens.
The ASC and diagnostic center are key components of the development which will also include housing, retail areas and wellness opportunities. Riverwalk Village will be part of a larger healthcare district that runs between Interstate 65 and west to US Highway 31 and from the north at the Cahaba River to the south at Valleydale Road.
The Hoover Health Care Authority filed an application with the State Health Planning and Development Agency for the Certificate of Need in January. The HHCA is looking to build an ambulatory surgery center and medical diagnostics center at the Riverchase Office Park.
