TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – The start of the new school year means the opportunity to highlight teachers in our community who go above and beyond for their students.
A very special dedication is in store for WCTV and Envision Credit Union’s first “Teacher of the Month” which takes us to Bond Elementary School.
Ms. Myioshi Walker-Brinson is a special education teacher for grades 3-5. She received this month’s award for her commitment to her students, no matter the cost.
She is known by her peers to tutor her students after school for free and has even purchased things like diapers, clothes and shoes for the families in her classroom who are in need.
Walker-Brinson said her passion for teaching comes from a long background of teachers in her family including her grandmother, aunts, mother, and father, so being in the classroom every day is something that comes natural.
“I pride into getting to know my children and their families which helps me in the classroom, especially with behaviors and different things like that so I enjoy going to the games and seeing the parents which just makes the relationship better,” Walker-Brinson said.
Walker-Brinson said she hopes all her students leave her classroom with a positive attitude and they won’t ever give up no matter what the challenge is!
Every month we’re heading to a different classroom across the Big Bend and South Georgia. You can nominate a teacher who has an impact on your child’s life by heading to wctv.tv and clicking the contest tab at the top of the page!
