Ford has revealed its most potent and swiftest production Mustang yet, boasting an astonishing 815 horsepower and a top speed of over 200 miles per hour. This extraordinary feat positions the GTD as the most expensive Mustang ever produced, with a starting price of $325,000.

However, the GTD deviates significantly from the standard Mustang production process. Unlike its mass produced counterparts, the GTD begins its life as a body in white at Ford’s Flat Rock assembly plant before being shipped to Canada for assembly by Multimatic.

This specialized process involves extensive modifications, including the installation of a dual clutch transaxle, a carbon fiber body, and a semi active rear suspension.

These enhancements, combined with a focus on weight reduction and aerodynamic efficiency, contribute to the GTD’s exceptional performance and justify its premium price tag. The GTD’s carbon fiber body not only reduces weight but also enhances its structural rigidity, improving handling and responsiveness.

The dual clutch transaxle provides lightning-fast shifts, further contributing to the car’s exhilarating performance. Additionally, the semi-active rear suspension adapts to varying road conditions, ensuring optimal grip and stability. Given the GTD’s limited production run of 2,000 units worldwide, it is unsurprising that demand has far exceeded supply.

With over 7,500 prospective customers expressing interest, the GTD has become a highly sought-after collectible. While the GTD’s price tag may be steep, its exceptional performance, exclusivity, and cutting-edge technology make it a compelling choice for those seeking a truly extraordinary driving experience.

The Mustang GTD, a performance-focused version of the iconic Mustang, prioritizes handling over outright acceleration. Under the hood, it features a familiar 5.2-liter Predator V8 engine, albeit with enhancements that boost torque to 664 pound-feet (900 Nm) compared to the GT500 and F-150 Raptor R.

Paired with Multimatic adaptive spool valve rear shocks and a motorsport style tubular subframe, the GTD can rev up to 7,650 rpm, offering ample power for a blown V8. To achieve a claimed top speed of 202 mph, the GTD utilizes a Drag Reduction System (DRS) that adjusts the rear wing and underbody flaps to optimize downforce and airflow.

Aiming to set a sub-7-minute lap time at the Nurburgring Nordschleife, the Mustang GTD faces stiff competition from high-performance models like the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series and the 911 GT2 RS. These vehicles have already demonstrated their exceptional capabilities on the legendary German track, setting benchmarks that the GTD will strive to surpass.

The GTD’s ability to go the Nurburgring’s challenging corners and straights will be a testament to its advanced engineering and tuning. Furthermore, the GTD’s focus on handling and track performance sets it apart from other Mustang models.

While the GT500 and Raptor R offer impressive power and off road capabilities, the GTD is designed specifically for the track and demands a more precise and engaged driving style. The GTD’s suspension system, brakes, and aerodynamics are all tuned to maximize performance on the circuit, making it a true driver’s car.
