The early 1960s saw a surge in popularity for full-size cars, with models like the Impala and Bel Air dominating sales. The Impala, in particular, achieved immense success, reaching a milestone of one million units sold in 1965.

Among these full-size offerings, the Pontiac Bonneville stood out as a luxurious and powerful choice. Equipped with a 389 cubic inch V8 engine and a four-barrel carburetor, it delivered a respectable 235 horsepower in its base configuration.

However, Pontiac also offered more potent options, including a 421 cubic inch engine capable of producing 405 horsepower. The Bonneville featured in these photos is powered by the 389 cubic inch engine and four-barrel carburetor combination. The seller claims that the engine runs smoothly and drives well, although the extent of any previous maintenance or rebuilds is unclear.

While the paint appears to be original, with some areas showing signs of peeling, it may have been repainted in the past. A thorough inspection is recommended to assess the condition of the car, both inside and out.

Despite its age, the Bonneville remains roadworthy, thanks to recent upgrades such as new tires, brakes, radiator, exhaust, freeze plug, and windshield. This allows potential buyers to drive the car home after purchasing it.

The rust-free condition of this Bonneville is its most appealing feature. However, a thorough inspection of the car’s undercarriage is essential to determine if any metal repairs have been performed. The seller’s assumption that photos alone would suffice has left crucial details unanswered, necessitating direct inquiry.

The online bidding frenzy for this Bonneville has already seen 17 bids in a short time, indicating its rapid popularity. Despite a reserve price, the highest bid currently stands at $3,650.

The auction’s closing date in six days and the growing number of watchlisted cars suggest that the competition will intensify. If you’re interested in live viewing, Williamston, South Carolina is the location.
