Hyundai Motor America has issued a recall for a small number of its recently refreshed Tucson SUVs due to a technical oversight. The affected vehicles were manufactured between June 7 and July 30, 2024, and were shipped without the necessary glovebox airbag warning label, which is a violation of federal safety regulations.
The South Korean automaker discovered the issue in August and promptly launched an investigation. It was determined that a limited number of 2025 Tucson models were built without the required label. Hyundai has notified owners of the recall and will be providing replacement labels. Dealers will also be available to install the labels for owners who prefer not to do it themselves.
The recall campaign, designated 24V-691, marks the first recall for the revised Tucson, a compact utility vehicle that has consistently been a top-selling model for Hyundai in the United States. The affected vehicles were produced during a specific manufacturing period and were inadvertently shipped without the essential warning label.
Hyundai has taken steps to rectify the issue by providing replacement labels to affected owners and offering installation services at authorized dealerships. The automaker has also implemented new quality control measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
While the recall affects a relatively small number of vehicles, it underscores the importance of adhering to safety regulations and ensuring that all necessary safety features are in place. Hyundai remains committed to providing safe and reliable vehicles to its customers and will continue to take proactive steps to address any quality issues that may arise.
The Hyundai Tucson, a popular SUV, has recently undergone a facelift. While the build & price tool hasn’t yet been updated with the hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants, the ICE-only version has been available for some time. In the first half of 2024, the Tucson outsold several other Hyundai models in the United States, including the Elantra, Santa Fe, Palisade, and Kona.
The Tucson’s exterior has received subtle updates, with a revised front fascia, a new column shifter, and a dual screen setup. Under the hood, the Tucson is powered by a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine, which can be paired with an eight speed automatic transmission and either front wheel or all wheel drive.
For those seeking more power and efficiency, Hyundai offers hybrid and plug in hybrid versions of the Tucson. The hybrid combines a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine with an electric motor to produce a total of 231 horsepower.
The plug-in hybrid is even more powerful, with a combined output of 268 horsepower. Both electrified versions offer impressive fuel economy ratings, making them a great choice for environmentally conscious drivers.
