While the second generation Kodiaq represents a substantial improvement in terms of design, features, and technology, Skoda Auto has made the surprising decision to offer an armored version of the first-generation model.

This unexpected move raises questions about the company’s strategic reasoning and the market demand for such a vehicle. One possible explanation could be that Skoda Auto has identified a specific niche market for armored vehicles.

Despite the availability of the second generation Kodiaq, there may be customers who prioritize security and protection above other factors. The first-generation Kodiaq, with its proven reliability and rugged construction, may be seen as a suitable platform for armoring.

Additionally, Skoda Auto may have existing partnerships or manufacturing capabilities that make it more cost-effective or efficient to produce armored vehicles based on the first generation Kodiaq. These factors could influence the decision to offer this particular model in an armored configuration.

Ultimately, Skoda Auto’s decision to offer an armored version of the first-generation Kodiaq is a testament to the company’s flexibility and adaptability. By catering to specific market needs, Skoda is demonstrating its commitment to providing a diverse range of products to meet the varying requirements of its customers.

The Skoda Kodiaq Armored, a new bullet and blast resistant crossover SUV, is expected to be a pricey investment. Despite the lack of an official MSRP, its upgraded features and rigorous safety certifications make it a formidable choice for those seeking maximum protection.

The Kodiaq Armored now boasts PAS 300 and PAS 301 Civilian Armored Vehicle certifications, ensuring its ability to withstand demanding tests for payload, acceleration, maximum speed, handling, braking, and resistance to gunfire and explosions.

The Kodiaq Armored’s enhanced safety features include bullet resistant glass, armored steel protection, and a reinforced passenger compartment capable of withstanding attacks from various handguns and assault rifles. Additionally, the vehicle is equipped to resist the blast effects of grenades and high explosives.

To maintain the same drivability and agility as the standard production model, the Kodiaq Armored features upgraded suspension and brake systems. Furthermore, its tires are equipped with a retention system that prevents them from leaving the rim, even when deflated, ensuring continued mobility in the event of punctures. For added safety and security, the Kodiaq Armored is also equipped with emergency lighting and siren systems.
