Toyota Sales Figures Reveal A Sale of Over 800 Camrys Per Day in US

As a continuation of my recent article discussing the exaggerated claims about the demise of cars, one sedan that remains vibrant and thriving is the legendary Toyota Camry.

Toyota recently released its Q3 2024 sales figures for the U.S., and the Camry continues its upward trend. Sales for this reliable family sedan increased by 1.7%, reaching 22,934 units.

Even more impressive is the Camry’s performance for the year through September, with a 4.4% rise in sales, totaling 227,576 vehicles.

Between January 1 and September 30, there are 273 days. Based on this, Toyota sold an average of 833.6 Camrys per day.

In practice, this number is even higher when considering only business days, as several states enforce blue laws that prevent car dealerships from operating on Sundays, and national holidays also reduce sales days.

The Corolla is also having a strong year. As of the end of September, sales rose by 6.9%, with a total of 177,092 units sold. This averages out to 648.6 Corollas per day.

Unlike its bigger sibling, which is exclusively available as a sedan, the Corolla offers more variety with a hatchback option, including a sporty GR performance variant. Globally, Toyota also offers the Corolla in a more practical wagon format.

That said, SUVs still dominate the market. The sales performance of the RAV4, Toyota’s highly popular SUV, is a clear testament to that.

Over the first nine months of 2024, the RAV4 achieved an impressive 350,331 units sold, marking a 15.7% increase compared to the same period in 2023. To extend the earlier math exercise, Toyota sold an average of 1,283 RAV4s each day from the start of the year.

These three models—Camry, Corolla, and RAV4—are just a few of Toyota’s top performers, with all of them being sold globally.

Given such success, it’s no surprise that Toyota retained its title as the world’s largest automaker for the fourth year in a row in 2023, having sold 9,483,137 vehicles.

Its luxury division, Lexus, also saw significant growth in 2023, with 824,258 vehicles delivered—an impressive 132% increase compared to the previous year.
