Mercedes-Benz has identified a software glitch in a small number of CLE and E-Class models that could disable certain safety features. The affected vehicles, produced between November 2023 and January 2024, have a version of MBUX software that may deactivate parking assistance systems without warning.

This could potentially lead to accidents if the driver is unaware of the issue. The automaker has developed a software update to address the problem, which will be delivered to affected vehicles via over the air (OTA) technology.

Mercedes has not received any reports of accidents or injuries related to the software issue. Mercedes-Benz USA is recalling approximately 2,025 vehicles equipped with iffy software that could lead to potential issues.

Affected models include the CLE 300, CLE 450, CLE 53, E 350, E 450, and E 450 4MATIC All-Terrain. The recall is due to a software glitch that could affect the vehicle’s performance, potentially leading to unintended acceleration, loss of power, or other issues. Owners will be notified by mail and can schedule a free update to resolve the issue.
