The Kia Stinger, a sports sedan renowned for its tail happy handling and competitive spirit, has been discontinued. Despite its impressive performance and platform sharing with the Genesis G70, the Stinger faced declining sales, leading to its premature end. While the future of the Stinger as a traditional ICE powered sedan remains uncertain, rumors are suggesting it might live on in electric form.

The upcoming Kia EV8, codenamed GT1, is expected to adopt the automaker’s next-gen EV architecture, potentially shared with the Genesis GV90. This platform will also underpin future Hyundai and Kia models, signaling a shift towards electric mobility for the Korean automaker.

The EV8 is poised to offer a similar level of performance and excitement as the Stinger but with the added benefits of zero emissions and advanced electric vehicle technology. While the exact details of the EV8’s specifications are still under wraps, it is anticipated to feature a powerful electric motor, long range battery, and advanced driver assistance systems.

The discontinuation of the Stinger marks the end of an era for Kia, but it also represents a new beginning. The EV8 and other upcoming electric models demonstrate Kia’s commitment to embracing the future of automotive technology and providing customers with exciting and sustainable driving experiences.

While official details remain scarce, unofficial sources suggest that the Kia EV8 could enter production as early as 2026. The model is likely to be manufactured in South Korea for global markets, and enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating its arrival, particularly the range-topping version that promises to challenge even high performance sports cars in terms of straight-line acceleration.

In the meantime, digital artists have begun to envision what the Kia EV8 might look like. Vburlapp’s recent rendering showcases a sleek and sporty design with a sloping roofline, broad shoulders, and intricate taillights. The side profile features small windows, flush-mounted door handles, and eye-catching concave wheels.
