Nissan’s luxury division, Infiniti, has issued a recall for certain 2025 QX80 models due to a software problem affecting the rearview camera system. The recall impacts vehicles produced between May 21 and September 19, 2024, and equipped with the Around View Monitor system.

The issue lies in the software controlling the rearview camera. During cold starts, the system may fail to initialize properly, leading to a blank image on the infotainment screen and an error message regarding the Park Assist system. This issue is particularly problematic as it can hinder visibility when reversing, potentially compromising safety.

Nissan discovered the problem during internal testing and has since received customer complaints about the same issue. The company is working to update the software on affected vehicles to resolve the problem. Owners of affected vehicles will be notified by mail and can schedule a service appointment to have the software updated free of charge.

The Nissan QX80, a luxury SUV known for its powerful V8 engine, has recently faced a software issue with its Around View Monitor system. Despite no diagnostic trouble codes being found, Nissan conducted an investigation and discovered a bug in the system’s software.

As a result, a recall has been issued for all potentially affected vehicles in North America. A software update will be provided to address the issue, which is expected to take less than 30 minutes to complete.

In addition to the software update, the QX80 has also undergone a significant mechanical change. The V8 engine has been replaced with a smaller but more efficient 3.5-liter V6 engine equipped with twin turbochargers. This new engine, known as the VR35DDTT, is currently exclusive to the QX80, Armada, and Patrol models.

The transmission has also been upgraded from a seven-speed to a nine speed automatic, produced under license from Mercedes-Benz by Nissan’s subsidiary JATCO. With a starting price of $82,450, the QX80 competes with other luxury SUVs such as the Lincoln Navigator, Cadillac Escalade, and Lexus LX.
