Porsche Cars North America has issued a recall for a small number of 2025 Taycan electric vehicles due to a delay in displaying the rearview camera image when the vehicle is placed in reverse.

This delay violates Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 111, which requires the image to be displayed within two seconds of selecting reverse. The issue was discovered by Porsche AG in August 2024, and the German automaker determined that vehicles produced for the US market were affected.

To address the problem, Porsche has implemented new central computer software in Taycan production and will provide free updates to affected vehicles through their dealers.

Owners can determine if their vehicle is affected by entering their 17-character VIN, which begins with W, on Porsche’s website. The recall population consists of 2025 Taycan models assembled between March 27, 2024, and August 19, 2024, at the Stuttgart Zuffenhausen plant in Germany.

It’s important to note that the Macan Electric, which is produced in Leipzig, is not affected by this recall as it uses a different platform than the Taycan. Porsche has taken swift action to remedy this safety issue and ensure that all affected vehicles comply with federal regulations.

Porsche’s electric sedan, the Taycan, has undergone significant upgrades for the 2025 model year. All versions, including the Turbo GT, now feature 800-volt systems capable of charging at up to 320 kilowatts. This results in faster acceleration, improved charging times, and increased range.

The Turbo GT, Porsche’s top of the line Taycan, offers exceptional performance but can be further enhanced with the optional Weissach package. This package adds to the car’s already impressive capabilities but comes at a premium price.

The Weissach equipped Turbo GT boasts a slightly faster 0-60 mph time, a slightly longer range, and a higher top speed compared to the standard Turbo GT. It also features a lighter weight and a track focused setup, making it ideal for enthusiasts seeking maximum performance.
