The updated Tesla Model 3 Performance (M3P), known as the “Highland” version, has surpassed expectations with its impressive speed and acceleration capabilities, eliminating the need for a Ludicrous drive mode found in larger Tesla models. Previously regarded as one of the fastest electric vehicles (EVs), the outgoing M3P achieved a 0-60 mph time of 3.1 seconds. However, the revamped version takes it a step further, hitting 60 mph in just 2.8 seconds and showcasing even faster acceleration as it reaches higher speeds.
The improvements in the 2024 Model 3 Performance have resulted in a notable enhancement in its quarter-mile performance, completing the distance in 11.0 seconds at 125 mph, compared to its predecessor’s 11.6 seconds at 115 mph. As speeds increase, the acceleration gap widens even further, demonstrating the efficiency and power of the new version. The all-wheel-drive system of the 2024 M3P has shown remarkable acceleration capabilities, racing to 100 mph in just 6.8 seconds, which is 1.4 seconds quicker than its predecessor. The performance gap continues to expand, with the new model hitting 130 mph in 12.3 seconds, 3.9 seconds faster than before. The race to 150 mph is equally impressive, with the new M3P achieving this speed in just 18.3 seconds—an astounding 8.7 seconds quicker than the 2019 version.
Despite its high-performance features, the 2024 Tesla Model 3 Performance is priced at a competitive $56,630, making it an accessible option in the electric vehicle market. This pricing is particularly noteworthy when compared to other high-performance vehicles, such as the BMW M3, which costs around $30,000 more.
