Mopar is gearing up for SEMA 2024 with an exciting new electric muscle car project.

They recently released a teaser video, giving us a glimpse of what’s to come. The project is a nod to the golden age of American muscle cars from the 1960s but with a modern, electrified twist.

Mopar has already teased a Ram electric concept truck, but this latest teaser points to something truly special – a revived and electrified version of the classic 1967 Plymouth Belvedere GTX.

The teaser video shows an intriguing mix of old and new. The electric car starts with both an ignition key and a power button, while retro-style gauges display the car’s motor temperature, battery power output, and battery levels, all mimicking the classic look of a muscle car’s tachometer.

By analyzing the video further, enthusiasts are confident that this electric muscle car is indeed a 1967 Plymouth Belvedere GTX.

But it’s clear from the teaser that this restomod will be far more than just a nostalgic trip down memory lane – it’s a modern powerhouse in disguise.

The original Plymouth Belvedere GTX, known as the “Gentleman’s Muscle Car,” was a luxury muscle car with serious performance.

In its heyday, it came with either a 440 V8 engine pushing 375 horsepower or the legendary 426 Hemi V8, delivering 425 horsepower and 490 lb-ft of torque.

The GTX was famous for its speed, running a quarter-mile in just 14.4 seconds straight from the factory.

It’s no wonder Mopar chose to bring back this iconic model, but this time, as an electric beast, ready to introduce a new era of muscle cars.

While Mopar continues to tease us with glimpses of their electrified muscle car, we’re eagerly waiting for more details before its full reveal at SEMA 2024.
