Stellantis controlled FCA US LLC has announced two recalls for Ram 1500 Classic trucks equipped with driver-side heated trailer tow rearview mirrors. The recalls affect 2020-2023 model year trucks and Mopar replacement parts.
The company discovered that the rearview mirror glass may detach from the backing plate, posing a safety risk. FCA US LLC will replace the suspect glass at no cost to owners. The affected mirror glass part numbers are 68286843AA, 68582424AA, 68582415AA, and 68462879AA.
The factory issue glass fitted to 2020-2023 Ram 1500 Classic pickups is 68286843AA. All of the affected glass was supplied by Aurora, Canada based Magna International. FCA US LLC became aware of the issue on July 21, 2023, and conducted an investigation through September 2024.
The company determined that the glass may detach from the backing plate due to a manufacturing defect. This defect can cause the glass to become loose and eventually fall off, obstructing the driver’s view.
FCA US LLC is notifying owners of the affected vehicles by mail. Owners can also contact their local dealer for more information or to schedule a repair appointment. The recall is expected to begin in December 2024.
