Asen Zahariev and his team at Tossa R have crafted a stunning cafe racer that redefines the Honda CX500. This motorcycle is more than just a cosmetic overhaul; it’s a mechanical masterpiece, showcasing the shop’s expertise in transforming classic bikes into performance-driven machines.
Starting with a worn-out Honda CX500, Tossa R meticulously rebuilt the bike from the ground up. A new steel subframe and a sleek seat pan were added, while the suspension was upgraded with premium components from a Yamaha R1 and an Ohlin’s shock absorber. The brakes were also enhanced with powerful calipers and discs from the R1, ensuring exceptional stopping power.
To complement the mechanical upgrades, Tossa R fitted the cafe racer with custom exhaust pipes, aftermarket air filters, and new wheels wrapped in high-performance tires. The engine, while retaining its original internals, received a thorough refurbishment and now breathes freely thanks to the new exhaust system and air filters.
The result is a breathtaking cafe racer that blends classic Honda styling with modern performance. It’s a testament to the skill and passion of the Tossa R team, who have transformed a humble CX500 into a truly extraordinary motorcycle.
Tossa R has finally completed the aesthetic overhaul of the motorcycle. The previously mentioned steel subframe and seat base now feature a handcrafted saddle, meticulously wrapped in three different types of upholstery and stitched with red thread. Additionally, a detachable tail section has been added, serving as the only bodywork piece besides the fuel tank.
The fuel tank itself is sourced from a later CX model and is complemented by a completely redesigned cockpit area. The latter includes a single Daytona dial, adjustable clip-on handlebars with underslung mirrors Kellermann bar-end turn signals, and billet aluminum rearsets.
The license plate is now mounted on a swingarm-mounted bracket on the left side, and the front end illumination is provided by a repurposed LED headlight from a Brixton Crossfire 500. The motorcycle’s minimalistic attire features a combination of white and red paintwork, with striking Honda logos adorning the fuel tank. The engine, frame, and wheels have been painted black, while the new suspension components retain their original color.
