The Formula 1 star, known for his sleek and high performance McLaren cars, surprised fans at the US Grand Prix with a drastic change of pace. Instead of his usual racing machine, Norris rolled up in a heavily modified 1973 Plymouth Barracuda.

Painted in McLaren’s signature Papaya orange, the classic American muscle car stood out among the modern F1 vehicles. Norris, a self proclaimed car enthusiast, has a collection of high-end vehicles including several McLarens, a Lamborghini Miura, a Porsche Carrera GT, and a classic Land Rover.

However, he opted for a more nostalgic choice for his trip to Austin. The 1973 Plymouth Barracuda, a stark contrast to his usual sporty rides, was a restomod project undertaken in collaboration with McLaren and eBay.

The classic American muscle car has undergone a significant transformation. With a coil over suspension, Wilwood disc brakes, upgraded headers and exhaust, racing bucket seats, and a wood rimmed steering wheel, the car is now ready for the track.

New headlights and taillights, along with 15 inch American Racing Wheels and period correct tires, give it a modern yet retro look. The Barracuda made its debut at the McLaren/eBay team garage during the US Grand Prix, where fans could vote on additional modifications.

Despite the car’s impressive upgrades, Lando Norris, who won in Singapore, finished fourth in Austin. However, McLaren’s driver remains second in the Drivers Championship Standings, and his team leads the Constructor Standings for the season.
