Mercedes-Benz and Moncler have revealed a new collaboration that expands their ‘puffer vehicle’ collection. This time around, not only can you admire the unique design but also purchase items from the accompanying capsule fashion collection.
The latest addition to the series, inspired by fashion designer NIGO, was showcased at the City of Genius show in Shanghai. The SUV, a restored 1990s G-Class Cabriolet, is a testament to the merging of automotive and fashion design, embodying the spirit of “Past Forward. Where the Future is Driven by the Past.”
The collaboration between Mercedes-Benz and Moncler has always been a marriage of luxury and innovation. Their previous project, the Mercedes-Benz Project Mondo G, was a groundbreaking example of this fusion.
However, the new Project G-Class Past II Future takes this concept to a whole new level. By restoring a classic G-Class and infusing it with NIGO’s signature style, Mercedes-Benz and Moncler have created a truly one of a kind vehicle.
The SUV’s exterior is a striking blend of retro and modern elements. The classic G-Class silhouette is complemented by bold, futuristic accents. The puffer inspired wheels and top, a hallmark of the Moncler collaboration, add a touch of whimsy.

He revamped the design, both inside and out, to resonate with modern culture while preserving the original essence.
The iconic puffer style returns, complemented by a matte two tone color scheme and black and gold accents. A unique audio installation by Devon Turnbull adds a futuristic touch, with removable “boom boxes” integrated into the convertible top. The interior features checkered upholstery and pops of orange and gold.
NIGO’s inspiration for this project stemmed from the cultural impact of the 90s, particularly electronic music and hip hop. He aimed to capture that energy and translate it into a contemporary design. To complete the package, a limited edition capsule collection will be available starting next spring.
Mercedes-Benz collectors can also purchase one of the 20 limited edition G-Class Past II Future models, featuring a distinctive two tone exterior, checkered upholstery, and other unique details.
