Among its many enabling features, Article 6.2 lays the ground work for the trading of GHG emission reductions, referred to as mitigation outcomes, among countries. Article 6.4 on the other hand, mirrors the Clean Development Mechanism, established under the Kyoto Protocol, providing a framework for trading GHG reductions under the auspicious of the Conference of Parties, the governing body of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. Finally, Article 6.8 acknowledges non-market strategies to foster both mitigation and adaptation, facilitating cooperation through financial support, technologies transfer and capacity building, without involving the trading of emission reductions.
