Toyota has made significant strides in the US automotive market during the first nine months of 2023. With a 6.2% surge in sales, the company has sold nearly 1.73 million units, closing in on market leader GM by a mere 220,000 units.
While Lexus, Toyota’s premium division, achieved its best ever sales result in its 35-year history, the core Toyota brand truly shone, emerging as America’s top retail brand with 1,481,319 vehicles delivered, a 5.5% increase year over year.
Despite some models like the GR Supra lagging behind, the GR86 has experienced record breaking sales. To capitalize on this momentum, Toyota is focusing on affordable sports cars, such as the 2025 GR86 Hakone Edition, which features a new Ridge Green paint job and other enhancements.
The digital car design, where anything is possible, a new vision for the 2026 Toyota GR86 has emerged. This imaginative take by virtual car artist Theottle goes beyond a simple facelift, instead proposing a radical return of the “Style Cb” special edition.
For those unfamiliar, the first-generation Toyota GT 86 offered a Japan exclusive Style Cb trim in 2015. This limited edition completely transformed the sporty coupe’s look, giving it a retro-futuristic vibe with a bubbly, classic aesthetic. Theottle brings this concept back for the GR86, not just as a visual refresh but as a potential global offering.
This reimagined Style Cb goes far deeper than the original’s revised headlights and bumper. It’s a full-fledged CGI makeover, borrowing heavily from the Toyota S-FR concept’s sheet metal and surfacing. The only remaining elements from the standard GR86 are the windshield, windows, roof, and side mirrors.
