The 1963 Chevrolet Nova, a first-generation compact car, might seem unremarkable at first glance. However, this particular Nova, crafted by the experts at Roadster Shop, is far from ordinary. Beneath its seemingly bland exterior lies a custom-built powerhouse that redefines the potential of this classic American car.

The Nova, produced by General Motors from 1962 to 1979 and again briefly in the late 1980s, has a rich history marked by both urban legends and a dedicated fan base. While the Spanish speaking world’s supposed aversion to the name due to its literal translation (“it doesn’t go”) is a myth, it has fueled creative transformations of the Nova into high-performance vehicles.

The 1963 Chevrolet Nova SS, a classic American muscle car, has been given a modern twist by the creative minds at Roadster Shop. This seemingly ordinary vintage car hides a powerful secret beneath its classic exterior.

A closer look reveals a lowered stance, wide tires, and a prominent exhaust tip, hinting at the performance upgrades within. The interior, while maintaining its retro charm, features modern racing elements like a roll cage and a four-point harness.

But the true heart of this Nova lies under the hood, where a Wegner-built 376 LS3 V8 engine, supercharged by a 2.9-liter Whipple, delivers an impressive 850 horsepower.
