The rapidly expanding eVTOL industry is facing a significant challenge: a shortage of skilled personnel. This is particularly true in China, where the National Development and Reform Commission estimates a shortfall of up to one million workers in the UAV sector and the broader low-altitude economy.

To address this issue, EHang, a leading Chinese eVTOL manufacturer, has partnered with the Civil Aviation Flight University of China (CAFUC) to foster a new generation of aviation professionals.

CAFUC, renowned for its expertise in civil aviation, has been at the forefront of UAV development in China. The university was among the first to offer a major in UAV system engineering and has played a crucial role in establishing the regulatory framework for UAV operations, including pilot licensing and training standards.

EHang’s collaboration with CAFUC aims to bridge the gap between academic education and practical skills. By combining vocational training with academic coursework, the partnership will enable graduates to obtain dual licenses as large UAV operators and EH216-S operators.

This initiative will not only benefit the Chinese market but also support EHang’s global expansion by providing skilled personnel to international customers.

The EH216-S, EHang’s flagship pilotless passenger-carrying eVTOL, has achieved significant milestones. It has secured multiple airworthiness certificates from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), including the Production Certificate, which allows for mass production.

Additionally, it has been selected by the Spanish National Police for operational use and has completed numerous autonomous flights in various countries, including Japan, Costa Rica, and Brazil.

As EHang prepares to launch commercial operations in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, the company’s partnership with CAFUC will be instrumental in ensuring a skilled workforce to support this ambitious endeavor.
