Bentley has confirmed that its first electric vehicle (EV) will launch in 2026, following a minor delay from the original 2025 timeline. This update was provided during an online presentation by Bentley’s new CEO, Frank-Steffen Walliser, along with other board members who shared insights on the enhanced “Beyond100+” sustainability strategy. This roadmap underlines Bentley’s goal of achieving a fully electric lineup by 2035, along with continued investment in a range of powertrains to adapt to market trends and customer needs.

This new EV will be an “Urban SUV,” designed specifically for city life and intended to reach a broader audience than previous models. Walliser described it as a slightly smaller SUV than Bentley’s standard, under 16.4 feet in length compared to the 16.8-foot Bentayga. With a focus on improved visibility and flexibility, Bentley is aiming to attract new customers who seek the brand’s luxury and performance in a more compact, city-friendly package.

While technical details are still under wraps, Walliser indicated that the EV will deliver excellent range and rapid charging capabilities. Bentley is also paying special attention to the sound of this model, which has been engineered to enhance the driving experience in a unique way. Matthias Rabe, the board member for engineering, emphasized that Bentley’s approach to sound will create a distinctive auditory experience that aligns with the brand’s high standards, ensuring it stands apart from other electric vehicles in the luxury segment.

Looking beyond this first EV, Bentley has confirmed its commitment to transitioning its entire lineup to electric vehicles by 2035. Meanwhile, it will continue to develop various powertrains, including plug-in hybrids and internal combustion engines (ICEs), as long as customer demand and regulations allow. Bentley also remains focused on the potential of synthetic fuels, or e-fuels, which offer an alternative for sustaining ICE vehicles in a cleaner way, supporting Bentley’s dedication to offering flexibility for customers throughout this transition.

To achieve these ambitious goals, Bentley is making substantial upgrades to its production capabilities. A key development is the construction of a carbon-neutral, environmentally sustainable facility at its headquarters in Crewe, slated for completion in 2025. This “Dream Factory” will feature a new, advanced paint shop offering nearly 100 color choices, along with a modern office space for over 370 employees. Supported by a £2.5 billion investment, Bentley’s facility is designed to integrate advanced technologies and maintain Bentley’s commitment to craftsmanship, luxury, and responsible manufacturing.
