Moreover, all government programs scheduled for the day will be cancelled, according to government sources. As of now there is no clarity on whether Bank will close on Friday, December 27 or not.
The National Flag will be flown at half-mast on the day of mourning throughout India on all buildings where the National Flag is flown regularly and there will be no official entertainment on the day.
Digital banking to continue even on holidays
In addition to national holidays, bank holidays vary from state to state in India. Additionally, on the second and fourth Saturdays, all scheduled and non-scheduled banks will celebrate a public holiday.
Even as the banks will remain closed of these days in December 2024, digital payment methods like UPI, IMPS and net banking, as well as online banking platforms and mobile apps will be available for the customers. Other financial transactions like ordering cheque books, paying bills, recharging prepaid phones, transferring money, booking hotels and tickets for travel, etc can be done easily online.
Manomohan Singh was born in Punjab in 1932 and served as Prime Minister of India for two terms, from 2004 to 2014. He took the oath of office for the first time in 2004, following Congress’ victory in the 2004 Lok Sabha election over the Atal Bihari Vajpayee-led NDA. He served a second term from 2009 until 2014. He was succeeded by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014.
