All banks – both public and private – will observe closures on two Saturdays and four Sundays during the first month of the New Year. They will also remain closed for various festivals and other significant occasions.
While the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has yet to release its official list of bank holidays for 2025, we have compiled a list of key holidays for January to help you plan your banking activities.
Here’s a breakdown of the bank holidays in January 2025:
January 1: Banks will remain closed across the country on New Year’s Day.
January 6: Banks will remain closed in some states, including Punjab, on the occasion of Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti.
January 11: Banks across the country will remain closed on the second Saturday.
January 12: Weekly holiday on Sunday.
January 13: Banks will remain closed in a few states on Monday due to the Lohri festival.
January 14: Banks will remain closed in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh due to Sankranti and Pongal.
January 15: Banks will be closed in Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and Assam because of Thiruvalluvar Day and Tusu Puja.
January 23: Banks will be closed in several states on the occasion of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose’s birth anniversary.
January 25: Banks will remain closed in India because of the second Saturday.
January 26: Banks across the country will be closed on the occasion of Republic Day.
January 30: There will be a bank holiday in Sikkim due to Sonam Losar.
Banks will also remain closed in Mizoram and Sikkim on New Year’s Eve.
To avoid any inconvenience, check the specific holiday schedule for your state or region. While physical branches may be closed, digital banking services will remain available as usual.
