(WKBN) — The man who pleaded guilty in Youngstown’s Chill Can debacle was sentenced Monday for an investment fraud scheme.

Garry Savage, Sr. of Huron, Ohio, and his company, Coast to Coast Chill, Inc., pleaded guilty in November to multiple counts of securities fraud and theft.

Savage was sentenced Monday, Dec. 30 to at least three years in prison and 18 months of parole following his release, according to a news release from the Ohio Department of Commerce.

Savage was also given credit for time served in the Erie County Jail where he’s been since his arrest in August 2022.

Additionally, Savage must pay restitution of $2,909,350 to investors in Coast to Coast Chill, Inc.

Chill Can promised to bring a cutting-edge canning operation to Youngstown. The scheme involved diverting investor money to pay himself and repay other investors, and not giving investors information.

The Chill Can plant still stands empty in Youngstown.
