    Singapore’s Carbon Credit Tender Attracts Global Bids – News and Statistics – IndexBox

    Singapore’s recent carbon credit tender has attracted significant interest from various international and regional players, reflecting a growing demand for carbon offsets. The tender, extended beyond its initial closure date to accommodate high interest, was organized by the Prime Minister’s Office Strategy Group according to Fastmarkets. Bids submitted totaled over 1.3 billion Singapore dollars, with a variety of credit prices ranging from S$25 to S$55 per tonne of CO2 equivalent (tCO2e).

    Leading the submissions, Trafigura‘s bid promised a total contribution equivalent to $224 million. Meanwhile, Mercuria stood out with two bids for a supply of 5.36 million tCO2e, proposing prices of $28.84 and $26.51 per tCO2e respectively. Carbon Solutions Services, based in Singapore, marked the top disclosed average price at $41.16 per tCO2e for 500,000 tCO2e credits, from projects in Ghana and Paraguay.

    Other noteworthy submissions include US-based Native offering 5.4 million tCO2e at a gradually increasing credit value, and Climate Asset Facility’s proposal involving 1.75 million tCO2e across several years, with strategic pricing in relation to the Singapore Carbon Tax. Investment interest is further indicated by projections from Conductor Capital Asset Management aiming for a future generation of 2.74 million tCO2e in Article 6 authorized credits. Furthermore, CarbonTrace and ITMO Limited offered more cost-effective credits at an equivalent of $18.72 and $20 per tCO2e, respectively.

    Fastmarkets data highlights the context of these offers, noting the prevailing assessment under the CORSIA scheme at $21.74 per tCO2e. The tender outcomes remain pending, as stakeholders await decisions that could set new benchmarks and dynamics in the voluntary carbon market. Insights from platforms like IndexBox indicate this increasing competition and the diversification of projects could drive a range of prices and compliance strategies, influencing future market directions.
