CAPE TOWN – ArcelorMittal South Africa has confirmed that it will shut down its long steel production by April this year.
This follows unsuccessful discussions with the government to keep the plant open.

The closure is expected to have a significant impact on various industries, particularly local scrap metal dealers who rely on the steel sector for business.
To discuss what this means for these traders eNCA spoke to Mark Fine, owner of Fine Trading and leader of the Scrap Recycling Coalition, a forum representing around 40 independent metal recyclers across the country.
