Sustainable agriculture company Indigo Ag has delivered nearly a megaton of carbon removal, issuing almost 1 million soil carbon credits.
This progress was powered by the company’s latest issued batch of independently verified carbon credits, totaling more than half a million, which were issued through the Climate Action Reserve.
Through soil carbon activities, the company has managed to sequester or abate 927K metric tons of CO2e since its establishment back in 2018. Its network of projects spans 28 US states, where it partners with local farmers, enabling them to access an income stream through carbon credits while enhancing resiliency in this agricultural branch.
Indigo Ag’s impact reaches beyond just carbon removal, as the company’s methodology also results in significant water savings, amounting to more than 64 billion gallons of water conserved so far.
On its journey of helping farmers and improving soil, Indigo Ag leverages various assets that have helped it position itself as one of the companies with the most consistent large-scale soil carbon credit deliveries.
Its approach for monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV) has been named by CO2 management company Carbon Direct as the best practice in this industry.
Additionally, the company has developed a financing model that returns 75% of the credit value directly back to the farmer. This system, paired with a growing interest in regenerative agricultural practices and carbon as a novel income source, has driven the company’s carbon program growth, attracting a network of CO2 credit buyers.

Another game-changing improvement came from an 85% reduction in the administrative steps needed for farmer data collection, allowing considerable time savings and expedited operations.
This, in turn, has put Indigo Ag and other sustainability initiatives on the fast track of development, free from needless bureaucratic hurdles along the way.
With its recent substantial carbon credit delivery, representing the company’s fourth batch, Indigo Ag is confident that soil carbon removal is cementing its position as an impactful climate solution that can deliver real environmental and economic benefits.
