Event organizers can purchase trees to offset the emissions from attendees driving to events.

ST PAUL, Minn. — Every time you drive a gasoline-powered car, it emits carbon dioxide.

The Saint Paul RiverCentre is starting a new initiative to offset those emissions.

Event organizers at Saint Paul RiverCentre, Xcel Energy Center and Roy Wilkins Auditorium can now purchase Green Cities Accord Carbon Credits to plant trees in the TwinCities. The trees planted will offset the carbon emissions from the cars used to attend the event.

Kate Setley, VP and General Manager of Saint Paul RiverCentre, visited KARE 11 News at Noon to share more on the initiative.
