BURN, a leading clean cookstove company in Africa, is preparing to issue some of the first-ever cookstove carbon credits certified under the Core Carbon Principles (CCP) by early July.
The credits will be issued under the Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market (ICVCM) framework, marking a significant step in raising the standard for quality and transparency in the sector.
Known for producing high-integrity carbon credits, BURN has long adhered to robust verification processes, including Gold Standard certification and ICVCM-endorsed Kitchen Performance Tests (KPTs). The CCP designation reinforces its commitment to credible, science-backed carbon reductions.
“We’re proud to lead the sector with some of the first CCP-Labelled cookstove credits. As the market evolves, buyers are increasingly demanding Article 6, CORSIA, or CCP-certified credits—and we’ve built our projects to deliver,” said Chris McKinney, Chief Commercial Officer at BURN.
Established in 2021 based on recommendations from the Taskforce on Scaling Voluntary Carbon Markets, the ICVCM introduced a global benchmark for cookstove credits in March 2025. BURN is among the first to align with these new standards.

Since 2011, the company has distributed over 5.2 million clean cooking appliances across Africa — from biomass and LPG stoves to its innovative ECOA Induction Cooker.
These products help households transition away from polluting cooking methods and generate carbon credits that can cut the cost of clean cooking by as much as 90%.
With CCP certification in progress, BURN is reinforcing its leadership in the voluntary carbon market and scaling its impact for communities, investors, and climate goals alike.
