The Ecosystem Restoration Standard (ERS) Program has officially been recognized as eligible under the Core Carbon Principles (CCPs) of the Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market (ICVCM).
This approval marks a major milestone for ERS and the global market for high-integrity, nature-based carbon credits, according to a media release on Tuesday.
The ICVCM’s CCPs serve as a benchmark for high-quality carbon credits, ensuring they deliver real, measurable, and lasting environmental and social benefits.
ERS is now one of only seven carbon crediting programs to meet the ICVCM’s stringent criteria on governance, transparency, and third-party verification.

Thibault Sorret, CEO of ERS, said the recognition affirms the strength of their standards and the enduring impact of their certified projects, which were developed from the outset to align with the CCPs.
Established in 2020, the ERS Program was built to tackle key challenges in the voluntary carbon market.
It prioritizes initiatives that address climate change, support biodiversity, and enhance local livelihoods.
Following this program-level approval, ERS’s Afforestation, Reforestation, and Revegetation (ARR) methodology will now enter the ICVCM’s methodology assessment process.
Annette Nazareth, Chair of the ICVCM Governing Board, congratulated ERS for meeting the council’s rigorous standards and becoming the seventh program to achieve CCP-Eligible status.
This endorsement positions the program to expand its global impact through a new wave of high-quality projects in critical ecosystems.
ERS remains committed to its mission of restoring 1% of the planet by 2030, upholding the highest levels of environmental and social integrity.
