Mr. von Berlepsch, last week, ArcelorMittal provisionally cancelled the construction of direct reduction plants (DRI plants) for climate-neutral crude steel production in Germany. The steel group criticized in the communication German and European politics. They had not set the right „political, energy and market-related framework conditions.“ However, politicians have promised EUR 1.3 billion in investment cost subsidies, a German industrial electricity price is to be introduced, and the EU has drawn up a steel and metals action plan. Is Arcelor’s criticism still valid?
