Were you one of the winners in August’s National Savings and Investments (NS&I) premium bonds draw? Once again, two lucky players won £1m each this month.
The first winning bond number drawn was 148YD123622 and is held by a winner based in Central Bedfordshire. The winner has £7,000 in premium bonds and purchased their winning bond in December 2008. This marks the fifth jackpot win for the region.
The second winning bond number drawn was 205XQ030808 by a new millionaire living overseas. The winner holds £50,000 in premium bonds and purchased the winning bond in May 2013. This marks the 6th millionaire living overseas.
One premium bonds holder in West Scotland won £100,000 with a £750 holding.

NS&I retail director Andrew Westhead said: “Huge congratulations to our two August millionaires, and to everyone else who has won one of the over six million prizes we’re paying out this month, including 75 £100,000 prizes. Our Central Bedfordshire winner shows that you don’t need to have the full amount invested to win big, as every £1 bond has an equal chance of winning the £1m jackpot.
“And remember, if you’re moving abroad and want to keep your premium bonds, you still need to have a UK bank account.”
Unlike other investments, where investors earn interest or a regular dividend income, bonds are entered into a monthly prize draw where people can win between £25 and £1m. All premium bonds prizes are free of UK income tax and capital gains tax.
The chances of all bonds winning are the same, regardless of when or where they were bought. Even if you did not get a winning ticket this time, be sure to check for any unclaimed prizes.
Prizes do not expire, meaning you can claim as far back as the original 1957 draw. Premium bond holders can reduce the chances of their prizes going unclaimed by managing their premium bonds online or opting to have any prizes paid directly into their bank accounts by BACS, with notification by email.
