WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — The Alcoholic Beverage and Cannabis Administration’s Enforcement Division (ABCA), with the help of the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) officers, served a closure order to another unlicensed cannabis business in Northwest D.C. Friday.
The Alcoholic Beverage and Cannabis (ABC) Board issued the closure to the owner of Green Cloud Shop, located at 706 Kennedy St., because they had been continuing to sell cannabis products without a license.
A search warrant for the shop was obtained and executed and MPD seized many THC products, a bowl that had a “green weed-like substance,” numerous marijuana plants and a bag that had powdery residue which field tested positive for opium.
The store owner, Abdelhak Hamsasse, 49 was arrested and charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute and Operating a Business After Certificate of Authority has been Revoked.
The store was shut down and the doors were padlocked.
ABCA said it has issued 23 cease and desist orders and 79 written warning letters to illegal cannabis businesses that have not applied for a medical cannabis business license during the open application period for unlicensed operators.
The closure order of Green Cloud Shop is the second unlicensed cannabis retailer the ABCA has shut down.
