CHARLOTTE, Mich. (WILX) – A subsidiary of a major international manufacturing company will be investing nearly $20 million in Charlotte.
Markdom Michigan Plastics, a subsidiary of Markdom International, announced it will launch American operations in Charlotte with a $19 million investment.
The expansion was facilitated through the Lansing Economic Area Partnership’s Global Lansing initiative, which aims to bring foreign businesses to Lansing and surrounding communities.
“The City of Charlotte and our entire community are thrilled to welcome Markdom International to our business community. Their upscale production facility will be another great addition to our industrial park,” said Charlotte Mayor Tim Lewis.
The new site will be located at 400 Parkland Dr. and is expected to generate 170 jobs.
“We are thankful that Markdom has chosen Charlotte, Michigan, for this significant investment in the Lansing region’s thriving automotive manufacturing industry. This project not only delivers jobs, investment, and resources to our community but also highlights the critical role of supporting smaller towns and rural areas. Many people wonder how we can sustain smaller towns, main street businesses, and rural life. A balanced development plan, anchored by a reliable manufacturing plant like this, is a vital part of the answer,” said LEAP President Bob Trezise.
