Ford Motor Company has issued a recall for 16,543 units of the 2022 Ford F-150 due to faulty parking lights that may flicker. This issue violates federal safety standards and increases the risk of accidents. The affected trucks were manufactured between March and July 2022.
These vehicles were previously recalled in September 2022 to address the same problem. However, 16,543 of these trucks failed to receive the necessary software update to fix the issue. Ford discovered this oversight in July 2024 and is now taking steps to rectify it.
Dealers have been instructed on how to repair the affected vehicles, and owners will receive notification by mail in October. Ford has not reported any accidents related to this issue. The Ford F-150, a popular pickup truck, has been recalled due to flickering parking lamps. To resolve the issue, Ford dealers will need to replace the LED driver module with a revised assembly.
The updated module operates at a higher frequency, reducing the required capacitance and preventing flickering. The replacement will be provided free of charge to affected owners. The recall affects 2022 model year F-150s, which received a significant refresh in 2023 for the 2024 model year.
Meanwhile, Ram, another popular pickup truck brand, has discontinued the 1500 TRX for the 2025 model year. This leaves the RHO as the only option for those seeking a high-performance Ram pickup. The RHO offers a twin-turbo I6 engine with 540 horsepower, making it a formidable competitor to the F-150.
The F-150 continues to offer a diverse range of powertrain options, including V6, V8, and hybrid setups. This versatility allows customers to choose the engine that best suits their needs and driving style. In contrast, Ram’s lineup for the 2025 model year is more limited, with only the Hurricane inline-six and the Pentastar V6 available.
While the recall for the F-150 may be a minor inconvenience for some owners, it demonstrates Ford’s commitment to safety and customer satisfaction. The discontinuation of the Ram 1500 TRX, however, is a significant loss for those who appreciate its unique blend of power and luxury.
