(Reuters) – Trump Media (DJT) & Technology Group’s key shareholder, ARC Global Investments, has unloaded nearly all its stake in the media company, it said in a regulatory filing on Thursday. ARC and its manager Patrick Orlando now hold about 0.01% stake, down from more than 5% or over 11 million shares in September. Orlando was the former CEO of the blank-check company Digital World Acquisition that took Trump Media public. He was ousted before the deal closed this year. A Delaware judge had ruled in September that Trump Media breached an agreement with Orlando’s ARC Global and the fund…

Image source: Getty Images FTSE shares have reacted in both positive and negative ways to Trump winning the US presidency. However, while some have enjoyed gains, many are down as markets struggle to assess the implications of the news. Overall, the FTSE All Share index is down 1% since 5 November, with the FTSE 100 hitting a three-month low last week. Many UK companies rely on sales to the US and the potential for new tariffs imposed on foreign imports could spell disaster. While the rhetoric seems largely focused on China and Mexico, tariffs of some sort are likely to…

By Gloria Dickie BAKU (Reuters) – Children from East Africa, where heatwaves and floods have shuttered schools in recent months, are pushing for world leaders to protect their education – and their future – at the United Nations COP29 climate summit in Azerbaijan. Siama, 17, from South Sudan, missed two weeks of school in April when temperatures surged to 45 degrees Celsius (113 Fahrenheit). “Our country is a developing country so we do not have climate-resilient buildings … and do not have ACs in school,” she said. More than 40 million children were kept out of classrooms this year, from…

The main aim of stock picking is to find the market-beating stocks. But every investor is virtually certain to have both over-performing and under-performing stocks. By Jonathan Stempel NEW YORK (Reuters) -Bill Hwang, the founder of Archegos Capital Management, should spend 21 years in prison for running a market manipulation scheme that wiped out his $36 billion firm and cost its lenders more than $10 billion, federal prosecutors said on Friday. In a late night court filing, prosecutors from the U.S. Attorney’s office in Manhattan also asked that Hwang be subjected to a $12.35 billion forfeiture and to pay restitution to victims at his scheduled sentencing on Wednesday. A 21-year term would be unusually long for a U.S. white-collar crime case, and just four years…

Image source: Getty Images A lot of people like the idea of earning money without having to work for it. I think buying shares in blue-chip companies can be a very powerful yet practical passive income idea. The income comes from dividends paid by the company to its shareholders. But some businesses do not pay dividends, others reduce their amount sometimes and some companies scrap them altogether. Those are not random choices however. MOSCOW (Reuters) – Russian gas producer Gazprom (MCX:) said it would send 42.4 million cubic metres of gas to Europe via Ukraine on Saturday, the same volume as on Friday, despite expectations of gas supplies cuts to Austria over a contractual dispute. ExxonMobil’s focus on oil and gas production quality is paying off. The energy sector is chock-full of high-yield companies with inconsistent payouts or track records of slashing dividends during industrywide downturns. ExxonMobil (XOM -1.04%) is an exception. The largest U.S.-based oil and gas major by market cap just raised its dividend for the 42nd consecutive year to $0.99 per share per quarter. Investing $6,000 in Exxon stock should generate over $200 in passive income per year and likely more over time if Exxon keeps boosting its payout. Down less than 5% from its all-time high, here’s why Exxon stands out…
