Following today’s , traders of short-term interest-rate futures contracts adjusted their expectations to now see a heightened probability of an additional quarter-point interest rate cut by the Federal Reserve in its December meeting. The likelihood of a Fed rate cut to the 4.25%-4.5% range in December has increased to 80%, a significant rise from the roughly 60% chance priced in prior to the inflation data release. Furthermore, traders anticipate a deceleration in the pace of rate reductions for the following year, with expectations that the Fed will pause rate cuts once the policy rate reaches the 3.75%-4% range. “Barring any…

A new electrode design developed at MIT boosts the efficiency of electrochemical reactions that turn carbon dioxide into ethylene and other products. Those who believed that this innovative company would skyrocket into the stratosphere have been sorely disappointed so far. Taking flight with a stock shortly after it debuts on the public markets can be an endeavor fraught with risk — something that early investors in Joby Aviation (JOBY 0.80%) could probably tell you from firsthand experience. Instead of a traditional initial public offering (IPO), Joby Aviation, a developer of electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL), first spread its wings on the public markets in August 2021 after it completed its reverse merger with a special purpose acquisition company. WASHINGTON (Reuters) – U.S. consumer prices increased as expected in October, and progress towards low inflation has slowed since mid-year, which could result in fewer interest rate cuts from the Federal Reserve next year. The consumer price index rose 0.2% for the fourth straight month, the Labor Department’s Bureau of Labor Statistics said on Wednesday. In the 12 months through October, the CPI advanced 2.6% after climbing 2.4% in September. Economists polled by Reuters had forecast the CPI gaining 0.2% and increasing 2.6% year-on-year. The up-tick in annual inflation also reflects last year’s low reading dropping out of the calculation.…

Image source: Getty Images Investing for the long term makes a lot of sense to me. What seem like good investments in the short term can sometimes turn out to be brilliant ones over a longer timeframe. With that in mind, if I had £20k to invest in an ISA and wanted to try and build wealth over the long term, here is the approach I would…
