By Dharamraj Dhutia MUMBAI (Reuters) -Indian billionaire Gautam Adani’s flagship firm plans to raise up to 10 billion rupees ($116.77 million) through a retail bond issue opening for public subscription next week, two sources aware of the development told Reuters on Tuesday. Adani Enterprises will sell two-year, three-year and five-year bonds through the issue, which will remain open for subscription from July 9 to July 22, the sources added. Image source: Getty Images I look for three key qualities in my ‘passive income’ stocks. This is money made with little effort on my part, aside from selecting the shares in the first place. The first of these is a high dividend yield. This will vary as a stock’s price moves, provided the annual dividend stays constant. But it will also change if that yearly payout alters. My minimum dividend yield requirement when I buy such a stock is 7%. This is because I get 4.5% from the ‘risk-free rate’ (the UK 10-year government bond), and shares have added risk.…

Image source: Getty Images The Fresnillo (LSE:FRES) share price was the best performer on the FTSE 100 in June. During the month, it increased 25%. And since the start of the year, it’s risen by more than 150%. What’s going on? Given that Fresnillo describes itself as the “world’s leading silver miner” — and “one of Mexico’s largest gold producers” — this isn’t surprising. Since the turn of the year, the prices of these two precious metals have soared. Both are up around a quarter. During periods of economic uncertainty, investors tend to buy these commodities. They’re seen as a…

Image source: Getty Images Of all the positions in my Stocks and Shares ISA, Rolls-Royce Holdings (LSE:RR.) is currently (30 June) the most profitable. Although I was late to the post-pandemic party, the aerospace and defence group’s shares have continued to outperform the wider market. Since June 2024, they have more than doubled in value. Over the same period, the FTSE 100’s risen by a more modest 7%. Better late than never My initial reluctance to buy the stock was based on a belief that the group’s shares were expensive and that the incredible bull run would run out of…

Image source: Getty Images Rolls-Royce’s (LSE: RR) share price has gained 129% from its 25 July 12-month traded low of £4.23. From its 1 July 2020 opening price of 85p five years ago it is up 1041%. However, there is no reason why a stock cannot still have enormous value remaining even after such a rise. Value and price are not the same thing at all in share investment. Price is simply what the market is willing to pay for a share. Value is what a stock is fundamentally worth, based on the underlying business. This includes its core financial…

Image source: Getty Images Of all the beaten-down growth stocks on the FTSE 100, I decided JD Sports Fashion (LSE: JD.) was best placed to roar back at speed. The stock had been high on my buy list for years, but I thought I’d missed my chance as it only climbed higher and higher. So when troubles at key brand Nike, which accounts for almost half of its sales, emerged in 2023, my ears pricked up. And when JD Sports issued a profit warning in January 2024 after a tough Christmas, my index finger twitched. Two weeks later, I clicked the Buy button.…

Image source: Getty Images At the end of 2024, I asked ChatGPT to list five top UK stocks for 2025. I wanted to see if the generative AI app was any good at stock picking. The stocks it selected were Diageo, AstraZeneca, Unilever, Tesco, and Shell. Let’s see how these shares are performing now that we’re halfway through the year. Is ChatGPT any good for stocks? In the table below, I’ve listed the five stocks and their returns for the first half of 2025. Note that I’ve only focused on share price returns and ignored any returns from dividends. StockH1…

The European Commission is set to permit countries to use carbon credits to “outsource a portion of their climate efforts to poorer countries from 2036,” said Politico. These credits will also count toward the Commission’s 2040 climate target. Carbon credits have become a significant part of many countries and companies’ plans to reduce emissions. But while some claim any reduction of emissions is good regardless of location, others say that the system allows polluters to keep polluting. What are carbon credits? They are “permits that allow the owner to emit a certain amount of carbon dioxide or other greenhouse gases,” said Investopedia.…

Mortgage rates have typically fallen during recessionary periods.  Douglas Rissing/Getty ImagesIn today’s news cycle, recession headlines come and go. Amid trade war anxieties, stock market roller-coaster rides and global conflict, no one is hoping for a major economic setback — except recessions have often created more favorable conditions for mortgage rates. Since the beginning of 2025, average 30-year fixed mortgage rates have been stuck in the high 6.5% to 7% range. Most housing experts, myself included, aren’t expecting rates to move much lower by the end of 2025. What would cause mortgage rates to drop? Could buying a home become more affordable in a recession? Would a dramatic…
